Maintenance

Maintenance mosquitotraps

Maintenance - To keep the airflow clean.
The vacuum blower needs to work without any limitations for your mosquito-trap to work properly. It is important to check for stoppages and blockades in the vents before starting your device, to see that the "fan" is clean and not blocked so that it loses its power. To keep the fan clean prevents any risk of blockage, restriction or trammel. If the fan is blocked and has not been cleaned within a day or two then the heat from the machine itself can damage the device with serous effect.

1. How to inspect
Repeat this every other day in use. Necessary tools: flashlight

Remove the rain cover and "the lure" (Octanol)
Check the airway around the device using a flashlight and check the space between the transparent "hat" and the black body of the engine.
Check the fan with a flashlight and verify that the central part of the engine around the fan is clean and without any blockage.
If the passages are visible and the fan is working properly, replace "the lure" (Octanol) and rain cover.

2. If the device is dirty and not clean at all.

You should do these steps if your mosquito-trap is experiencing irregularities with the fan and it is slowed down because of dirt and other blocking particles.

Necessary tools: screwdriver, pliers, soap water, cloth and a plastic knife.
Safety first - Turn of the engine first by closing the vent connected to the lid of the LPG-canister. Remove the regulator from the canister and wait till the device is properly cooled down.

Remove the rain cover, sticky paper and "the lure".
Find all visible screws and bolts and that unscrew.
Remove the transparent hat by opening the screws and disconnecting the LED diodes.
Clean the area around the fan with soap water, window cleaner or a citrus degreaser. NOTE! - Never use a "petroleum-based cleaner. Avoid contact with the LED-lamps and the fan-engine to avoid inflicting damage.
Clean the transparent hat. Dry all parts using a cloth.
If there is still any dirt left you can use a plastic knife and try to gently scrape it off.
Reconnect the LED-lights and put the transparent hat back on the engine-stance. Change the sticky paper and "the lure" if needed.
Put the rain cover back on.

3. Cleaning Turbo Scoop

Remove the engine from the stance.
Remove the catch basket.
Detach the plastic plug at the bottom of the engine.
Turn the motor head upside down to be able to remove all dirt and junction from the bottom of the Turbo Scoop.
Reattach the plastic plug. Replace the motor back on to the stance.
Put the catch basket back in place.
Connect the regulator back to the LPG-canister. Make sure to do a leakage test before you start the device.

Too humid or wet environments, or the machine staying idle for a while can contribute to the machine not starting. This may contribute to moisture entering the engine and it becomes very difficult for the machine to boot. Set your machine in the sun or in a dry place for a while to allow the engine to dry out and try to repeat these steps several times if you suspect this may be the case.
 Damp or dusty
  1. Connect the LPG-canister
  2. Turn the valve slowly towards "OPEN".
  3. Push and hold the black "gas-button" down for up to 3 minutes, and try the ignition every 30 seconds, but DO NOT let the "gas-buton" go even after you hear the "POP" sound. Hold it donw till the indicator moves towards green, the LED-lamps starting to blink and/or the fan starting to spin.

NOTE! For your mosquito-trap to work properly the fan needs to be able to work without blockades and stoppages. It is important to check and clean the area around the fan/engine to avoid blockages and dirt combining into rust. If the fan is blocked for more than a couple of days then the heat generated from the device can inflict serious damages to the machine

Ventilation is blocked 1.   Turn off the LPG-canister.
2.   Detach the LPG-canister from the machine.
3.   Check the ventilation-openings and air being taken in to make sure that it is free from dirt.
4.   Clean the device.
 Fan is not working
  1. Check that the machine has been on for at least 10 minutes.
  2. Try to spin the fan slowly using a pen.
  3. If the fan starts spinning afterwards on its own then the problem is solved and you should let the device run freely on its own.
  4. If the fan stops spinning, turn off the LPG-canister and clean the machine and the fan using a cloth.

Machine suddenly turns itself off.

Possible cause Solution
The LPG-canister is empty Replace/fill the canister with Propane.
Overheating  If the machine is exposed to direct sunlight then there is a risk for it overheating and as a result its automatic heat protection system turning on. Even though this is not at all a common problem it can still occur.Move the machine to a more shadowy place if possible.

  1. Turn off the LPG-canister.
  2. Detach the LPG-canister from the machine.
  3. Let the engine cool down for about 30-45 minutes.
  4. Reconnect the LPG-canister.
  5. Start the machine.
  6. After about 5-10 minutes, check for the LED-lamps starting to light and blink and for the fan to start spinning.
